Professional Network Chapter in Jefferson Park

Kitty's enthusiasm with BNI's networking program has proven to me that this is well worth the investment of my time. I gained valuable insight on how to identify qualified referrals for the members in my chapter. In addition, through the BNI Member Success Program I was also able to identify my own needs and how to present my service offerings in a manner in which others outside of my industry could comprehend.

From his newsletter:

We don't like networking. We don't like networking "events." There. We said it.

Frankly, most of these "events" seem like dreary cocktail parties, full of earnest strangers anxious to sell you something. No offense to individual printers, insurance salespeople, or unemployed HR "consultants," but collectively they make up 98% of the card-passers at these joyless soirees.

We found something much better. BNI, Business Network International, is a fast-growing referral organization that has hundreds of chapters, in which each member comes from a different profession. One accountant, one computer repair guy, one dentist, etc. Over breakfast once a week, the group learns about the services provided by each member. Over time, this turns 30 people into 30 auxiliary sales evangelists who carry your card around. It works.

Joliet Chapter of BNI

The whole networking process is a new experience for me. I spent many years in a law practice that had a built in system of referrals and I did not have to get out and attend the various bar association, chamber of commerce, alumni functions. BNI is helping me with several techniques already and I look forward to learning more.
